Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (April 1, 2006) - The Trenton Titans fell short in a shootout Saturday night, losing 2-1 to the Toledo Storm in front of 4,802 at Sovereign Bank Arena.

Trenton struck first, as Chris Pittman scored his 21st of the season, tipping in Jim Henkel's centering pass at 17:01 of the opening period.

Toledo wouldn't even the match until midway through the third, as Todd Jackson beat Titan goaltender Rejean Beauchemin shorthanded. The 1-1 score would stand and Trenton headed to overtime for the sixth time in nine games

The Storm peppered Beauchemin with six shots in the extra frame, but were unable to put the puck past him, sending the game into a shootout - the Titan's third in four games.

Jackson, Scooter Smith, and Bracken Kearns scored for Toledo as Logan Koopmans only allowed Chris Pittman to put the puck into the net to seal the 2-1 win for the Storm.

Beauchemin finished the evening with 45 saves, and both teams were a perfect 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.

Trenton returns to action on Tuesday, April 4th, as they take on the Wheeling Nailers at Sovereign Bank Arena. Tune into WBCB 1490AM or go to www.trentontitans.com to hear all of the Titans action.
