Charleston Strong Jerseys to be Auctioned Online Via NHL Auctions

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals, announced today that the club's special "Charleston Strong" jerseys that will be worn on Opening Night this Saturday, October 17, will be authenticated by The MeiGray Group and auctioned online via NHL Auctions.

The jerseys will be worn on Opening Night only as part of Mother Emanuel AME Church Family Night, an evening to honor and remember individuals impacted in the Charleston church shooting this past June.

Auction proceeds will benefit the children of the victims. The auction will begin when the puck drops for the Stingrays' season opener vs. the Reading Royals. The auction will end on Tuesday, November 10, at 9 pm ET.

Bids for the "Charleston Strong" game-worn jerseys may be submitted online at Auctions.NHL.com. Links will also be posted on the front page of StingraysHockey.com. Collectors, fans, and supporters worldwide can bid to help the families of the many affected by the shooting that claimed nine lives, and left three survivors deeply impacted.

"Whether you collect jerseys and love hockey, or just want to support this important endeavor, this is one auction you should not miss," said Barry Meisel, President of The MeiGray Group. "We are all Charleston Strong."

MeiGray is the Official Game-Worn Source of the National Hockey League, the ECHL, and USA Hockey. The Branchburg, New Jersey company also works with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and US Tennis Association (USTA). The organization will use its many contacts and resources to promote the "Charleston Strong" jersey auction to those across the sports world outside of the Lowcountry.

The specialty jersey features the "Charleston Strong" motto, which has brought the community together in unity, across the front of the uniform. The design of the jersey also features the Mother Emanuel AME Church logo on the shoulder. A silhouette of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, one of Charleston's most iconic landmarks, appears on both sides of the jersey.
