Swamp Rabbits Announce Opening Night Roster

Greenville, S.C. - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the team's opening night roster for its sixth season in the Upstate. The initial active roster is comprised of 11 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders. In addition, two players will begin the season on reserve.

Of the 22 players on the overall roster, 11 have previously worn a Swamp Rabbits sweater. The roster also includes four players on an NHL contract with New York (forwards Michael Kantor, Josh Nicholls, Michael St. Croix and defenseman Troy Donnay), two players on an AHL contract with Hartford (forward Jack Combs and defenseman Kodie Curran) and two players on an AHL contract with the Syracuse Crunch (defenseman Charlie Dodero and goaltender Allen York).

Among the 11 newcomers, Donnay, 21, is also the youngest player on the squad. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Rangers to an entry-level contract on July 31, 2013. Along with Donnay, forwards Domenic Alberga and Andrew Dommett, defensemen Davis Vandane, Curran and Justin DaSilva, and goaltender P.J. Musico make up the seven rookies.

The Swamp Rabbits' opening night roster also contains four veterans, defined as any player who has appeared in at least 260 professional games at the ECHL level or higher. Those include forwards Bretton Cameron, Combs, Nikita Kashirsky and defenseman Rob Kwiet.

Furthermore, the average age of the team is 25-years-old, while the initial roster will feature 395 games of AHL experience and 11 games of NHL experience. Eight players were born in the United States, 13 are from Canada and one is of Russian descent (Kashirsky).
