EVERETT, Wash. - Ethan Chadwick shut down the Blazers Saturday night as the Everett Silvertips earned a 5-0 home victory at Angel of the Winds Arena.
Teague Patton opened the scoring by breaking through the blazer defense and generating a breakaway goal, his second of the season.
Beau Courtney snapped one to back of the net at 8:20 in the first period to give the Tips a 2-0 lead. Kaden Hammel added a powerplay goal 18:40 in the second period for his first of the season.
Dominik Rymon continued his hot scoring streak with a one-timer goal 4:55 into the third period, his third of the weekend and fourth of the season. Ty Gibson tacked on a tally from the blueline at 18:13 in the third period for his first of the season, assisted by Julien Maze and Cade Zaplitny.
Chadwick stopped 24 shots for his 3rd career WHL shutout and his first win as an Everett Silvertip. The Tips improved to 3-1-0 on the young season in the win.
"Ethan was solid," commented assistant coach Dean DeSilva after the game. "When Ethan's back there, there's no rebounds and lots of communication."
"To hear the fans on their feet ringing those cowbells," commented Chadwick, "it's something that I'll remember for a long time."
The Silvertips take to the road against the Portland Winterhawks Friday, Oct. 6. Everett will then head east to face the Tri-City Americans Saturday, Oct. 7.
