Tri-City Americans News Release

The Americans scored three in the third period tonight to come from behind and defeat the Chiefs 3-1 in Spokane.

With Tyson Greenway in the box for tripping, Brayden Crampton opened scoring late first period with a power play goal for Spokane.

The score held at 1-0 in favor of the Chiefs into the third period. Despite training by one, the Americans led shots 32-24 through the first two periods.

Lukas Matecha made his WHL debut in net tonight for the Americans after returning from pro camp with the Detroit Red Wings this week. He made an impressive first impression, turning aside 38 of 39 shots faced from Spokane.

The Ams offense was finally able to break through five minutes into the third period. Andrew Fan tapped home a pass from Max Curran to put the Americans on the board and tie the game at 1-1.

Five minutes later, Deagan McMillan recovered a lose puck in the high slot area and scored with a quick wrist shot past Dawson Cowan to give the Ams a 2-1 lead. McMillan scored again with two minutes remaining in the game as he cleaned up a rebound off a shot from Lukas Dragicevic. Tonight was McMillan's third multi-goal WHL game.

The Americans will look for their third straight win next Saturday at their home opener in Kennewick.
