Cey to Team Canada

Johnstown, PA (December 20, 2005) - The Johnstown Chiefs announced that goaltender Morgan Cey will play for Team Canada in the international Spengler Cup tournament, which will be held from December 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland.

Cey, a rookie, from Notre Dame was chosen by Team Canada general manager Al Coates and NHL Hall-of-Fame member, Lanny McDonald. McDonald is the director of player personnel.

This season with the Chiefs, Cey is 4-3-3 with .907 save percentage and a 3.20 goal against average. After four seasons with Notre Dame, Cey signed a two year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Spengler Cup tournament, started in 1923, features the best club teams from Europe, Russia, and one team from Canada. It is held annually in Davos, Switzerland. Team Canada, usually comprised of college players and ex-NHLers who play for European club teams, has won two of the last three tournaments, but fell to Davos last year.
