The Border Cats set a franchise record for runs scored in a game Saturday night as they dropped the Alexandria Blue Anchors 18-9 before 1,352 fans at Subway Field. The Cats were down 9-5, but scored the final 13 runs of the game with five runs in the 6th inning, a pair of runs in the 7th and six runs in the bottom of the 8th. The win improved the Cats second half record to 8-26 and 21-48 overall for the season.

Adam Collins (Central Michigan University) had a huge night at the plate as he went 5-5 and was a triple shy of the cycle. The second baseman hit his second home run of the season and drove in five runs. Collins upped his batting average to .342. Scott Held (University of Mary) had four hits and drove in four runs in his first start for the Cats, while Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) went 3-6 with a double and three more runs batted in. Duplantis increased his team record RBI total to 57. Ty Stetson (Murray State University) reached base five times with two hits, two walks and the centre fielder was also hit by a pitch. Stetson scored four times and also drove in a pair of runs. Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) went 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

Steven Pastrana (Dominican College) picked up the win in relief as he improved his record to 1-2. The righthander pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while strucking out six. Chris Kerwood (Arkansas State University) started for the Cats and lasted 5 2/3 innings. Kerwood gave up 10 hits and nine runs (five earned runs), with four walks and three strikeouts.

The Cats and Blue Anchors close out the 2013 Northwoods League season today on Fan Appreciation Day. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05pm. Anthony Pastrana (Dominican College) will take his 0-2 record to the mound for Thunder Bay in the season finale.
