Youngdahl Fuels Bullfrogs to Victory

Eau Claire, Wis. -- The Bullfrogs struck early with three runs in the first inning against the Express on Saturday and held the lead the rest of the way, leading to a 5-2 victory in the second to last game of the season.

Each of the first three batters of the game each reached base for the Bullfrogs. Robert Youngdahl walked and then came in to score on a triple from Bryant Burleson. It was Burleson's 50th RBI of the season. Burleson then came around to score on an infield single from Jimmy Coady, who later came around to score on another single from Jose Godinez.

After three hits and three runs in the first, Green Bay didn't collect another hit until the seventh.

Starting pitching dominated the rest of the way. Robert Youngdahl, making his fourth and final start for the 'Frogs, threw four scoreless innings before allowing a two-run home run to Alex Call in the fifth inning. That home run cut the Bullfrog lead to 3-2.

After two scoreless innings from the Green Bay bullpen, the score remained the same heading into the ninth inning, when the Bullfrogs tacked on two important insurance runs to extend their lead to 5-2. RBI came from Jimmy Coady and Ryan Drobny.

Briant Trieglaff pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth, earning his fourth save of the year.

The win went to Robert Youngdahl (2-1). The loss to Eau Claire's Zak Shockley (1-5).
