Lakeshore Chinooks News Release

After a 16 run outburst Friday, the offense went back in to hibernation against former Chinook Andrew Arenson picking up just 4 hits in a 9-3 loss to the Madison Mallards Saturday.

Early on it looked as though the offense would continue its torrid pace when the Chinooks put runners at the corners but Chris Manning (Valparaiso University) struck out to end the inning.

Sawyer Polen (Kent State University) got the scoring started in the third with a solo homerun, his third of the road trip to make it 1-0.

In front of an enormous crowed of over 6,000 the Mallards responded, touching Kyle Bouman (Jefferson College) for five runs. Two came across on a homerun by Drew Weeks to make it 5-1.

Madison added two more in the fifth on a single by Alex Bacon and an RBI ground out by Jason Goldstein.

The Chinooks final two runs came in the eighth inning on a pair of Mallard miscues. Aaron Machbitz (South Dakota State) scored on a wild pitch and Manning came across to score on an error by shortstop Kyle Ruchim.

The La Crosse Loggers came from behind with two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to defeat the Wisconsin Woodchucks 6-2 to keep the Chinooks from clinching the Northwoods League south division title.

With one game remaining the scenario remains the same, a win or a La Crosse loss means a playoff game at home Monday at Kapco Park.
