Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats lost to the host Jamestown Jammers 8-6 on Friday night as a late-inning rally fell just short despite multi-hit games by four different batters.

Ryan Bottger (2-5 with one run), Derek Fisher (2-5 with a triple and one run batted in), A.J. Reed (2-3 with one run) and Nick Tanielu (2-4 with a triple and two runs batted in) led the way for Tri-City's offense. But the 'Cats couldn't keep up with Jamestown, as the Jammers snapped a ten-game losing streak with the victory.

Jamestown got on the board by scoring off of 'Cats starter Luis Ordosgoitti in the first inning before Tri-City catcher Jamie Ritchie doubled home designated hitter Ricky Gingras to tie the game in the top of the third. However, the Jammers broke the game open with a run in the third and three in the fourth before tacking on two in the fifth to take a 7-1 lead.

The ValleyCats were able to chip away at the lead before closing the gap to 7-6 in the seventh inning following Fisher's RBI triple.

Unfortunately, that was the closest the 'Cats got, as Jamestown scored a run in the bottom half of the seventh, then shut out Tri-City for the final two frames to close out the victory.

The ValleyCats will now head to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to take on the Crosscutters, the affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Getting the start for the ValleyCats will be RHP Troy Scribner (3-1, 1.57), who currently leads the New York-Penn League with 31 strikeouts. He will face off against Williamsport RHP Alejandro Arteaga (1-2, 3.85).

Following the three-game series in Williamsport, Tri-City will have an off day before heading home to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium to take on the Aberdeen IronBirds on July 16th to start a six-game home stand.
