Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - RHP Simon Castro was sensational for his second straight start, firing five one-hit innings and tying a career high with nine strikeouts to push the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 4-2, Tuesday at Parkview Field. Blake Tekotte drilled a first-inning home run in a 3-for-4 night. With the win, the TinCaps became the first 70-win team in all of professional baseball. The TinCaps jumped ahead as Tekotte hit a towering drive over the wall in right on just the second pitch from Wisconsin RHP Wily Peralta. It was Tekotte's 11th home run of the year. Castro held Wisconsin scoreless through five innings; the only hit he gave up was a two-out triple in the 2nd off the bat of Jose Duran, but he struck out the side to avoid damage. Over his last two starts, Castro has worked 10 innings, allowing two hits, no walks and has struck out 17. The TinCaps padded their lead when they manufactured a run in the 7th. Tekotte led off with an infield single, went to second on Daniel Robertson's sacrifice bunt, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Justin Baum to push the lead to 2-0. In the 8th, Fort Wayne mounted a two-out rally. Adam Zornes and Kevin Hansen drew two-out walks and Tekotte hit a broken-bat flare to right field to score Zornes. Daniel Robertson hit a one-hop liner for an infield single and Hansen raced home to make it 4-0. The runs would come in handy. In the top of the 9th against RHP Brad Brach, Wisconsin, which had been held to just two hits through eight innings, got back-to-back singles to start the inning. Corey Kemp followed with a double to the gap in left-center to cut the lead in half to 4-2. Brach then retired the next three batters, two via strikeout, to end the game. Castro (7-4) grabbed the win. Peralta (3-3) was saddled with the loss despite allowing just one run in four innings. With the win, the TinCaps improved to 70-31, 25-6 in the second half. The Timber Rattlers fell to 47-52, 13-17 in the half. The TinCaps continue the series against the Timber Rattlers (Class-A Milwaukee Brewers) Wednesday at 11:05am. Fort Wayne RHP Stiven Osuna (8-6), who has won his last six consecutive starts, starts against Wisconsin RHP R.J. Seidel (0-0
