Great Lakes Loons News Release
The Great Lakes Loons and Los Angeles Dodgers announced today the addition of outfielder/first baseman Clay Calfee to the Loons' active roster. To make room for Calfee, catcher Fumi Ishibashi has been returned to the disabled list.
Calfee was batting .270 with two homers and 12 runs batted in 16 Arizona League games this season. Primarily an outfielder last season, this year he has played exclusively first base.
A left-handed hitter, Calfee hit .232 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs last year with Ogden. He played collegiately at Angelo State (TX), where he is the career leader in average, slugging, on-base percentage, home runs, RBIs, walks, runs and total bases. He also pitched at ASU.
Ishibashi was active for Monday's game but did not play.
The Loons begin a homestand Tuesday at Dow Diamond at 7:05 p.m. against the Beloit Snappers. Midwest League leader in wins JonMichael Redding (11-3, 4.48) starts for the Loons against Snappers' right-hander Brad Tippett (8-3, 2.31) in the first of a three-game series. It's another Dollar Family Feast Night at Dow Diamond, with $1 prices on hot dogs, 16-oz. soft drinks and ice cream sandwiches, and tickets are available at loons.com or by calling 989-837-BALL.
The Great Lakes Loons are the third-year Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL
