CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Dave Caruso made 37 saves and Adam Henrique netted a pair of goals as the Albany Devils knocked off the Charlotte Checkers, 3-0, Tuesday at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Henrique scored first at 11:14 with a wrister from the right face-off circle. The goal was assisted by Jacob Josefson and Matt Anderson.
Before the intermission break, Henrique's shot from just outside the crease handcuffed Charlotte goaltender Justin Pogge and trickled across the goal line. The score came while on the power play with 25 seconds remaining in the period and Jeff Prough and Anderson had the helpers.
Late in the game, Alexander Vasyunov setup Brad Mills for a one-timer goal with 2:25 remaining and concluded the scoring.
Caruso provided the defensive support with 10 saves in the first, 13 in the second and 14 in the third for his first-career AHL shutout. Olivier Magnan lent a helping hand in the first period, guarding a wide open net as Caruso attempted to handle the puck. The Devils' netminder earned his third victory of the season and 12th of his AHL career.
Statistically, Henrique scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season and is now tied with Anderson for the team lead for goals. Henrique is riding a three-game scoring streak (2g-1a) and leads the team with 13 power-play markers.
