Carr Gives Claws the Lead in 5-3 Tuesday Win at Hudson Valley

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Jared Carr gave the BlueClaws the lead with a two-run double in the eighth inning and Jersey Shore bested Hudson Valley 5-3 on Tuesday night for their fourth straight win.

Jersey Shore took the first of the six game series with the Renegades and stayed within three games of first place Brooklyn in the SAL Northern Division.

The BlueClaws got on the board in the third on a base hit by Rixon Wingrove. Leandro Pineda's RBI double in the fourth put the BlueClaws up 2-0. Gabriel Rincones Jr. extended the lead to three with an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning.

Jersey Shore starter Gabriel Cotto threw five scoreless innings before Hudson Valley got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single from Rafael Flores. Cotto left with runners on the corners and nobody out. Andrew Walling (2-0) allowed a SAC fly but got out of the inning with the BlueClaws up 3-2. Spencer Jones then tied the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh.

Carr came through in the eighth with an opposite field two-run, two-out double to give the BlueClaws the lead.

Wesley Moore came on in the eighth and threw a scoreless inning to keep the lead at 5-3. Matt Russell threw a scoreless ninth to earn his third save.

Carr and Otto Kemp each had two hits for the BlueClaws in the win.

The teams continue their series on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm.
