
Captains Lose 2-1

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - The Captains out hit the Lugnuts ten to 2, but the Lugnuts won the ballgame 2-1. The Lugnuts increased their lead over the Captains in the division to nine complete games. The Captains stranded 12 base runners in the ballgame, which is one shy of a season high. Of the 12 stranded, eight were left in scoring position.Lake County's record in one run games now falls to 6-9.
Lake County scored first in the second inning; Jerrud Sabourin walked and came around to score when Todd Hankins doubled him home. The score was 1-0 Lake County 1 and Lansing 0.
The Lugnuts took the lead in top half of the sixth inning. Kellen Sweeney reached on an error. He was advanced to second base on a bunt, and took third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly to right field. The score was tied 1-1. Lansing added on as with two outs Chris Hawkins singled and then Andy Burns double scored Hawkins and it was a 2-1 Lugnuts lead.
RHP Marcus Walden (3-1) got a no decision. Walden only lasted four innings scattering seven hits, allowing one run and it was earned. He had two walks and struck out three. He gave way to RHP Blake McFarland (2-1) got the win. He entered in the fifth and pitched four innings allowing two hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Ajay Meyer entered the ballgame in the ninth and set the Captains down 1-2-3 to earn his 14th save of the season.
RHP Joe Colon (4-4) got the tough loss. Colon was perfect through 14 hitters and had a no-hitter through five innings. Colon pitched six innings; he gave up two hits two runs (zero earned) a walk and two strikeouts. Mason Radeke entered pitched two scoreless innings and did not allow a base hit; he walked three and struck out three. Cole Cook pitched a scoreless ninth for Lake County.
Sunday is a Family Fun Day and will feature a pre-game player autograph session, expanded in-stadium entertainment and activities, an enhanced Kids' Zone area with new inflatables including a new speed pitch and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game. Lake County Speedway will also have several drivers and their cars on display in the concourse at Classic Park during the game. The Captains will send RHP Cody Anderson (4-1, 1.89) to the mound. Lansing will counter with LHP Justin Nicolino (2-0, 1.33). Game time is scheduled for 1:00PM.
