Madison Capitols News Release
Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols (12-16-1-2) will welcome back their all-time leading scorer as they host the Chicago Steel (13-16-3-2) on Friday night at the Alliant Energy Center on WJJO Dollar Beer Night.
Just eight days after being traded for one another, Madison's Marcel Godbout and Chicago's Haralds Egle will skate against their old teams for the first time. Egle is playing in his third game with the Steel after spending a season and a half in Madison, scoring 21 goals and 41 assists as a Capitol.
Godbout has been on fire all season long, no matter what jersey he has been wearing. The Center Line, Mich. native picked up his first two goals as a Capitol in the first period on Saturday against the Youngstown Phantoms, bringing his season total to 13.
The Steel picked up their first win in the season series in the teams' last meeting, a wild 8-5 Chicago victory on Nov. 21 in Geneva. On that night, the Capitols trailed 6-2 in the third period before storming back to within a single goal. The comeback came up just short, as the Steel added two empty-netters to secure the win.
In the teams' first meeting at the Alliant Energy Center on Oct. 23, the Capitols picked up two goals in 2:27 of the second period and hung on for a 2-1 victory. Egle had two assists that night for the Capitols, while Godbout opened the scoring for the Steel. The Capitols would win another one-goal squeaker two nights later on a late goal from Sam McCormick. Godbout again provided offense for the Steel, potting his second goal in three nights.
Friday's tilt against the Steel marks another WJJO $1 Beer Night at the Coliseum. Tickets to all upcoming Capitols home games can be purchased by calling (608) 257-CAPS (2277) or by visiting www.MadCapsHockey.com.
The Capitols will continue their seven-game homestand with games against Green Bay Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Cedar Rapids on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. respectively. The Capitols will play two more home games next weekend against Team USA's National Team Development Program (U17) before taking to the road for 13 of their next 14 games.
