
Team USA Knocks off the Muskegon Lumberjacks 6-4

Plymouth, MI - The United States National Development U17 Program knocked off the Muskegon Lumberjacks 6-4 this evening.
The first twenty minutes of hockey featured a variety of chances on both ends. The Lumberjacks drew first blood, midway through the first period. Robbie DeMontis won a clean faceoff back to Nate Kallen, he moved along the blue line and rifled a shot past Dylan St.Cyr for his first career USHL goal. Five minutes later, Jacob Tortora responded to tie the game 1-1.
Team USA jumped on top of Muskegon early in the second period. Sean Dhooghe received a pass from Tortora, and netted his fourth goal of the season. The Lumberjacks responded with two goals to close out the second period. Max Humitz blasted in his own rebound to tie the game 2-2, midway through the second period. Then, Rem Pitlick netted his league leading, 20th goal of the season, to give the Muskegon a 3-2 lead after forty minutes of play.
Muskegon scored an early third period goal to give the Lumberjacks a 4-2 lead, when Matej Paulovic set up Dante Palecco for his fifth goal of the season. However, Team USA responded with four unanswered goals to defeat the Muskegon Lumberjacks 6-4.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (13-13-3) will look to get back on track Sunday, when they take on the Chicago Steel (13-16-5) at 4:00 p.m. The last home game in January will be on Monday, January 18th, at 12:15 p.m., as they Lumberjacks will host their "Watch Muskegon Go" game, and celebrate the accomplishments of Martin Luther King Jr.
