August 30, 2004 - Midwest League (MWL1)
West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

Comstock Park, MI ?Brian Rogers was scorched for eight runs in six innings as the West Michigan Whitecaps season high nine-game home winning streak and four-game overall streak both were ended after an 11-1 loss against the Lansing Lugnuts Monday night.

Every Lugnut had at least one hit as the 'Caps allowed two runs in the first, four in the fourth and three more in the sixth for a 9-0 lead. Kelly Hunt drove in Jason Knoedler for his 96th RBI in the bottom of the sixth to get it to 9-1 but Eulogio DeLaCruz allowed two unearned runs in the eighth inning after Garth McKinney dropped a sky-high flyball. McKinney injured himself during the play and was immediately replaced in right field by Nate Doyle.

West Michigan's magic number to clinch a playoff spot remains at three games with the loss and a Fort Wayne win against Cedar Rapids.

The Whitecaps will take another shot at Lansing Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The 'Caps Jordan Tata (7-11, 3.38) will go for his fifth win in the month of August against Ronald Bay (11-8, 2.98) for Lansing.
