Week In Review
The South Bend Silver Hawks finished their third consecutive week of winning baseball, splitting a pair with the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers) and securing three-of-five games against the Battle Creek Yankees (New York Yankees). Monday, the Hawks were blanked by the Whitecaps 3-0, but were able to battle back Tuesday, scoring a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to help them grab a 3-1 win to close a brief two game homestand.
The Hawks took to the road for a five game series versus the Battle Creek Yankees that began last Thursday. After dropping the opener 9-7, the Hawks were able to sweep Friday's doubleheader 8-6 and 10-3.
In game one, the Silver Hawks trailed 5-3 going to the ninth inning and tallied five in the visitor's frame to push them to their victory. In game two, South Bend pummeled out 15 hits, with ten of them coming from the first five batters in the order. Allen Mottram slugged a pair of home runs in the twin bill sweep of the Yankees.
After suffering a loss Saturday, the Hawks bounced back Sunday as the first four hitters in the lineup went a combined 7-for-17, with two RBI and three runs scored.
The Hawks return to The Cove Monday night to close their regular season home schedule in a four game series against the Kane County Cougars (Oakland A's). Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

ABATE Ride Motors into Cove
The 24th annual ABATE ride for MDA will take place at Coveleski Regional Stadium on September 5th. The musical act at this year's event is country superstars Montgomery Gentry. The concert at The Cove coincides with the fourth CD put out by the duo, "You Do Your Thing". The concert is open to the ABATE motorcyclists as well as the general public. "The idea of having this event at The Cove was to try to maximize the money raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association," said Erik Haag, Executive Vice President of Palisades Baseball. "For only $25.00 you have the opportunity to see a great show and assist the Muscular Dystrophy Association."
Tickets for the general public are $25 for stadium seating and infield seating. Tickets are on sale now at the Coveleski Stadium box office. If fans can't make it to the box office, they can charge tickets by phone at 574-235-9988 or order online by visiting www.silverhawks.com. Showtime is 4:00 PM and gates open at 1:00 PM. Anyone interested in participating in the MDA ride prior to the concert should contact the MDA office at 574-259-9912.
