'Canes Recall Sutter, Woods from Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forwards Brody Sutter and Brendan Woods from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Sutter and Woods will be available to play in tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at PNC Arena.

Sutter, 24, has appeared in seven NHL games for the Hurricanes this season. The Viking, Alb., native has totaled 21 points (11g, 10a) and 37 penalty minutes in 64 games on the AHL level with the Checkers this season. The Hurricanes' seventh-round pick (193rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, Sutter (6'5", 203 lbs.) has played 11 career NHL games with Carolina. He has totaled 35 goals and 45 assists (80 points) in 205 career games with the Checkers.

Woods, 23, has played in three games on the NHL level for the Hurricanes this season. The Humboldt, Sask., native has scored eight goals and earned 11 assists (19 points) in 56 games this season with the Checkers. Since turning professional, Woods (6'4", 210 lbs.) has scored 26 goals and earned 31 assists (57 points) in 168 career AHL games, and has skated in five career games with the Hurricanes. Carolina drafted Woods in the fifth round, 129th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
