Brown, Woods, Sutter Assigned To Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forwards Patrick Brown, Brody Sutter and Brendan Woods to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Brown, 23, has appeared in five NHL games for the Hurricanes this season, totaling one goal and one assist. The Bloomfield Hills, MI, native has netted 13 goals (13) in 66 AHL games for Charlotte this season. Brown (6'1", 210 lbs.) played four seasons at Boston College before turning professional, and was a member of the Eagles' 2012 NCAA championship team. He signed with Carolina as a free agent in April 2014, and has earned two points (1g, 1a) in 12 career NHL games, and 33 points (15g, 18a) in 126 career AHL games.

Sutter, 24, has appeared in eight NHL games for the Hurricanes this season. The Viking, Alb., native has totaled 21 points (11g, 10a) and 37 penalty minutes in 64 games on the AHL level with the Checkers this season. The Hurricanes' seventh-round pick (193rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, Sutter (6'5", 203 lbs.) has played 12 career NHL games with Carolina. He has totaled 35 goals and 45 assists (80 points) in 205 career games with the Checkers.

Woods, 23, has played in four games on the NHL level for the Hurricanes this season. The Humboldt, Sask., native has scored eight goals and earned 11 assists (19 points) in 56 games this season with the Checkers. Since turning professional, Woods (6'4", 210 lbs.) has scored 26 goals and earned 31 assists (57 points) in 168 career AHL games, and has skated in six career games with the Hurricanes. Carolina drafted Woods in the fifth round, 129th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
