Des Moines, IA - Matt Camp drove in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as Iowa coughed up a huge lead and then battled back to beat Omaha, 9-8, Sunday afternoon in the second of a four-game set at Principal Park. The Storm Chasers have dropped the first two games of the series to fall to 31-26 on the season and see their lead over the Cubs in the American Conference North Division sliced to four games.

Trailing 8-6, the Storm Chasers tied the game in the eighth inning on a two-run home run by Kila Ka'aihue, his first since rejoining the team just about a month ago.

After throwing a scoreless bottom half of the eighth, Jeremy Jeffress allowed a one-out base hit to Fernando Perez in the ninth. Bobby Scales followed with a single to move Perez to third but was tagged out after rounding the bag too far. Camp, who had entered the game in the previous inning as a defensive replacement, then slapped a single past a drawn-in Mike Moustakas at third base to produce the victory for the hosts.

Bryan LaHair singled home the first run of the game in the first inning, marking the seventh time in 11 starts that Omaha's Jeff Suppan had been touched for a run or runs in his initial frame. Scott Moore's two-run double capped a three-run third inning that extended the Iowa lead to 4-0 before LaHair's three-run blast finished a four-run fourth that gave the Cubs a seemingly comfortable eight-run cushion.

Suppan was tagged for eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits but overcame the rought start to last seven innings. He struck out four, walked one and finished on a strong note by retiring the last 10 batters he faced.

Meanwhile, Iowa starter Casey Coleman walked Jarrod Dyson to start the game but then retired the next 15 hitters. Lance Zawadzki broke up his no-hit bid with a leadoff double in the sixth and would come in to score the visitors first run during a two-run rally.

The Storm Chasers then strung together five hits in the seventh to draw within 8-6 as Lorenzo Cain, Zawadzki and Johnny Giavotella supplied RBI singles against reliever Jeff Stevens.

The series continues Monday night with Omaha right-hander Vin Mazzaro taking the mound against Iowa right-hander Jay Jackson. Coverage of the game gets underway at 6:45 p.m. and can be heard locally on KOIL AM 1180 and online at omahastormchasers.com.
