Calderone's Walk-Off Single Lifts Fisher Cats over Sea Dogs, 7-6

Manchester, NH- Adam Calderone went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-out, game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth inning that gave the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 7-6 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

New Hampshire (24-23) rallied with three consecutive two-out singles in the ninth against losing pitcher Justin Hedrick (1-2). Al Quintana (1-for-5, 2 R) and Bryan Kervin (1-for-1) both reached before Calderone ripped Hedrick's offering over the head of rightfielder Ryan Kalish to give the Fisher Cats their second walk-off win of the season.

Edgar Estanga (2-2) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win, capping a night that saw the Fishers' bullpen combine for 5.2 shutout frames.

Portland (22-23) jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Rey Gonzalez in the top of the second on an RBI double by Jon Still (2-for-4, 2B, R) and a run-scoring ground out by Reid Engel (1-for-3, 2B, R).

New Hampshire tied the game in the home half of the second, scoring a pair of unearned runs when David Cooper (2-for-5, 2B, RBI, R) and Calderone came in on a throwing error by Sea Dogs shortstop Zach Borowiak.

The Fisher Cats went ahead, 5-2, in the bottom of the fourth when Calderone smacked a two-run double and Cody Haerther (1-for-3, RBI, SAC) followed with an RBI single that chased Portland starter Felix Doubront.

The Sea Dogs used a four-run fourth inning to reclaim the lead, 6-5. After Portland loaded the bases against Gonzalez, Ryan Khoury (2-for-4, RBI, R, BB) delivered a bases-loaded single off reliever Bubbie Buzachero, Kalish (0-for-5, RBI) hit a run-scoring ground out and Bubba Bell (2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI) laced a two-run double.

Cooper drove in the equalizer off Blake Maxwell in the fifth when he knocked in Brian Dopirak (1-for-4, BB, R) with a gap double to right-center, tying the game 6-6.

The Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs wrap up their three-game series Thursday morning at 11:05am when New Hampshire's Brandon Magee (2-1, 5.40) pitches against Portland's Junichi Tazawa (4-3, 2.74).
