2009 Rock Cats Race to first 100,000

New Britain, CT - When 5,029 patrons passed through the gates of New Britain Stadium last night to see the Rock Cats take on visiting Trenton, their enthusiastic presence enabled the Eastern League club to surpass the 100,000 Attendance Milestone on the earliest Opening in New Britain franchise history. With last evening's gathering - on the 20th Opening of the still young 2009 Season - the club has already attracted 101,954 fans to the highly enjoyable experience that is Rock Cats Baseball.

The previous franchise mark for earliest Opening to 100,000 Attendance was established in 2007 - and then tied in 2008 - when the Rock Cats reached the annual marker on each season's 22nd Opening.

The New Britain Rock Cats are the Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Minnesota Twins. The club plays a 142-game schedule, with 71 of those annual contests occurring at fan-friendly, easily-accessible New Britain Stadium.

The Rock Cats have 51 home games remaining on their 2009 Season schedule, including two more this week with Trenton - EL partners of the New York Yankees---before the Binghamton Mets-affiliates of New York Mets---enter the Hardware City for a big weekend series that begins on Friday night.
