
"Bus-lagged" Grizzlies fall short against Wild Things

The Gateway Grizzlies, fresh off a 10-hour night time bus ride, couldn't get anything started Wednesday night in Washongton, PA. The host WildThings put up 8 runs in the first and cruised to a 9-1 victory.
The Grizzlies offense were held to a season-low three hits on the evening. Mike Breyman had two of those hits, and was responsible for the only Grizzlies' run. Breyman was 2-3 on the night. He poked a one-out home run over the lefft field fence in the top of the ninth for the only tally for the Grizzlies. He also had a double and walked.
Jimmy Reiter had the only other hit. He was 1-4 with a single.
Nick Szczur (2-1) started and took the loss for the Grizzlies. Szcsur went the first six innings. He surrendered all nine runs, five earned on 10 Washington hits. He struck out three and walked five.
Brendon Davis (2-1) went the distance for the Wildthings. He walked five and struck out five.
The Grizzlies and WildThings will continue the series with a 6:05, central time, start Thursday night in Washington, PA.
