
McEachran's streak ends, but \'Hawks win, 3-1

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Aaron McEachran went hitless for the first time since June 15, but still managed to help the Rockford RiverHawks win.
McEachran walked three times and scored a run as the RiverHawks beat the Chillicothe Paints, 3-1, at Marinelli Field. McEachran was 0-for-1 and grounded out in his only official at-bat. His hitting streak ended at 19 games, matching Ben Fjelland's three-year-old team record.
All the game's scoring came in the third inning. Jose Rodriguez doubled in Chillicothe's run in the top of the inning. In the bottom of the third, Ashley Farr singled in two runs and McEachran scored on Ryan Larson's sacrifice fly.
Derek Roper scattered a run on eight hits and struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings. Roper (4-2) won for the first time since June 10. Jason Glosser pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fifth save.
Luke Palmer (1-3) gave up 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings and took the loss. Game two of the three-game series is at 7:05 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday. Miller Lite sponsors Dollar Beer Night.
The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
