Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN - The bullpen was flat-out dominant for the Saltdogs in a 3-1 victory over the Amarillo Sox in front of 3,455 fans at Haymarket Park Saturday night.

Four Saltdogs relievers combined for 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball, limiting the potent Sox lineup to its second-lowest output of the campaign.

Nick Schreiber (6-0) inherited the bases loaded with one out in the fifth inning but escaped the jam without allowing a run, keeping Lincoln's 2-1 lead intact. Schreiber ended up throwing 1 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit while walking one to earn the win.

Garrett Sherrill, Santo Luis and PJ Zocchi teamed up to throw three innings, allowing just one walk while striking out five. Zocchi worked a perfect ninth to earn his 15th save.

Rafael Alvarez hit an RBI triple to open the game's scoring in the fourth. Pat Trettel added an infield single to drive in Alvarez.

Gavin Dickey launched a solo home run in the fifth, his third of the year, to give the Saltdogs a 3-1 lead.

Matt Elliott (6-3) pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits to suffer the loss.

Jino Gonzalez went 4 1/3 innings in his Saltdogs debut, allowing one run on two hits.

The teams meet again Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. for the series finale. Tim Brown (5-6, 4.71) will take the hill against Justin Garcia (6-2, 5.02) for the Sox.
