GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - The Wichita Wingnuts lost 6-3 to the Grand Prairie AirHogs at QuikTrip Park on Saturday night.

Grand Prairie scored two in the first and four in the second to build an early lead that the Wingnuts could not overcome. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the first, Greg Porter singled to center to drive in two runs against Wingnuts' starter Chad Sherman.

David Thomas led off the bottom of the second with a walk and stole second base with one out. Thomas scored on Danny Figueroa's triple to right-center field. Guillermo Martinez lined a single to left that scored Figueroa and gave Grand Prairie a 4-0 lead. Two batters later, Cesar Nicolas hit a sacrifice fly to right that brought in Martinez. Porter drove in the AirHogs' final run with a two-out, RBI single to left.

Brandon Mathes took over for Sherman after Porter's base hit in the second, and led four Wingnuts' relievers in working six and one-third scoreless frames. Mathes worked three and one-third, allowing two hits, two walks, and striking out two. Jared Bradford, Matt Nevarez, and Marcos Tabata each chipped in a scoreless inning.

Wichita rallied for their only runs in the top of the seventh. Jorge Delgado drew a one-out walk, and scored from first on Josh Workman's double to center field. After Peter Barrows reached on an infield single, Edwin Bellorin doubled into the left field corner to drive in two more runs. Wichita eventually brought the tying run to the plate before AirHogs' reliever Bo Schultz retired Tommy Fitzgerald on a flyout to left to end the inning.

Sherman took the loss, allowing six earned runs on five hits in one and two-thirds. Sherman walked four and struck out two.
