Bullies Can't Weather Cyclones, Lose 4-2

Atlantic City, NJ – The Cincinnati Cyclones used a power play goal from Ryan Brindley at 15:55 of the third period and a late empty-net goal from Mike Casselman to defeat the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies 4-2 in ECHL action on Tuesday.

After a scoreless first period, the Cyclones (9-8-0) got on the board when Tom Rouleau was credited with his first goal of the season at 2:20 of the second to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead. The Cyclones would double their advantage on a shorthanded goal at 5:13 when Scott Cameron would wrap the puck around the far post by Bullies goaltender Scott Stirling for a 2-0 lead. It wouldn't take long for the Bullies (11-6-0) to counter as still on the power play, Jon Cullen right off the face-off win by Stefan Rivard took the puck and blasted a slap shot over the left shoulder of Cyclones goaltender Tyler Masters at 5:18, 5 seconds after the Cameron goal to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. Ian Walterson got the Bullies back to even when his slap shot along the ice from the left-wing circle beat Masters at 9:06 to tie the game at 2- 2. However, the Cyclones would take advantage of a Bullies penalty and Ryan Brindley netted the eventual game-winning goal on the power play at 15:55 when he tucked the puck underneath the pads of Stirling for a 3-2 edge. Mike Casselman would tally an empty-net goal for Cincinnati at 19:03 to make the final 4-2.

The Bullies out-shot the Cyclones 33-27 for the game and went 1-6 on the power play. Stirling made 25 saves but dropped to 9-5-0 on the season.

The Bullies travel to Johnstown Friday and Saturday to battle the Northern Division leading Chiefs at the Cambria County War Memorial. Game time both nights is 7:05PM.
