Toledo\'s Paul Ballantyne Selected as ECHL Player of the Week

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that defenseman Paul Ballantyne was selected as the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week.

Paul, a sixth round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2000, tallied 7 points (2-5-7) over the weekend in Storm wins over Dayton and Wheeling. His seven points helped the Toledo Storm to there first 2 game winning streak since October 17th and 18th. On Saturday, Ballantyne scored an ECHL season-high six points (2-4) in Toledo's 9-3 win over Wheeling. After Friday night's assist, Paul had tallied 2 goals and 4 assists. Now Ballantyne is the team-leader with eight assists and twelve points. Five of the six points scored for Ballantyne came on the Power Play, which broke out in a big way Saturday going 5 for 11. He is the first Storm player to win the award since Nathan Robinson on March 3, 2003.

Toledo returns to action this Friday night against the Dayton Bombers. On Saturday night, the Storm will host the Peoria Riverman. Both games are 7:30pm at the Toledo Sports Arena.
