ECHL Kalamazoo Wings

Countdown to Face-Off

November 25, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Game Preview

For the first time in franchise history, the K-Wings will lace up their skates against the Columbus Stars. Though it may be their first season, Columbus has taken the league by storm. The Stars are shining bright atop the Eastern Conference with a recorded of 10-3-2. The Coliseum at the Ohio Expo Center has been a tough place for visiting teams to play, as the Stars are 6-1-2 on their home ice. Even though they're in the east, Columbus has found success out west, as the Stars are 4-2-0 outside their conference. Despite the great start, the Stars will be looking to end their current two game winless streak.

The K-Wings will end their two game road swing Wednesday against Columbus. In total, the K-Wings have played 6 of their last 7 (including Wednesday's game) games away from Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo has posted an impressive 5 victories on the road this year, which is just one win shy of the league high. The K-Wings are hoping to build off of last Saturday's 3-1 victory against Rockford, which snapped a 3 game winless streak for Kalamazoo. On the year, Kalamazoo is 1-3-0 when playing out of conference; however, the K-Wings lone Eastern Conference victory did come on the road (Elmira 11/14). Wednesday's game is a big one for Kalamazoo, as a victory could move them into third place in the Western Conference, and set up a pivotal contest Friday night, when the K-Wings end rivalry month against the Fort Wayne Komets at Wings Stadium.
