Ballantyne is the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Toledo defenseman Paul Ballantyne is the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for November 17-23.

The 6-3 and 204-pound Ballantyne scored two goals and seven points as Toledo won back-to-back games for the first time since opening weekend.

Ballantyne had an assist and was +3 in a 4-2 win against Dayton on Friday and on Saturday he scored an ECHL season-high six points in the Storm's 9-3 win against Wheeling. Selected in the sixth round (196th overall) by Detroit in the 2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Ballantyne is on an NHL contract with the Red Wings. Ballantyne scored a goal in the first period and a goal in the second period while also tallying three of his four assists in the second as Toledo took a 7-3 lead.

The 21-year-old Ballantyne entered the game with six points (2g-4a) in 11 games, and doubled his season totals in goals, assists and points with his six-point night, giving him a team-leading eight assists and 12 points in 12 games.

In his first professional season in 2002-03, Ballantyne scored 26 points (10g-16a) in 56 regular season games while helping Toledo capture the Brabham Cup, awarded annually to the regular-season point champion of the ECHL, and one point (0g-1a) in seven Kelly Cup Playoff games. He also played in seven games with Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.
