Bullfrogs Fall to Mallards Despite Complete Game from Graff

Despite a complete game from Ben Graff, the Bullfrogs fell to the Mallards 2-1 in the finale of the season series between the two clubs.

Graff's lone blemish came in the third inning, with an error of his own that allowed Eric Forgione to reach with one out. John Laprise followed quickly with a triple to right center that got past Nick Torres allowing Forgione to score from first base. Mike Reuvekamp lined the next pitch back up the middle to score Laprise from third and give the Mallards a 2-0 lead after three innings.

LHP Andrew Arenson went five shutout innings for the Mallards only allowing five hits, walking two batters, and striking out six. Sam Forkert came in to relief to pitch a scoreless sixth inning before being relieved by Corey Fischer.

Fischer got in to trouble in the seventh inning allowing singles from Cabe Reitien and Trevin Sonnier, as well as a walk to Boomer White to load up the bases with two outs. Jack Livingston then came in to the game land drew a ground out from Jose Godinez to strand the bases loaded and hold the 2-0 lead for Madison after the seventh.

Graff closed out the game by retiring the final 14 Mallards he faced. He struck out nine batters and only allowed five hits with no walks.

Hunter May came in to close out the game in the ninth inning. May allowed a double from Ryan Matranga who scored on a passed ball to cut the lead in half. However, Boomer White then flied out to right field though to end the game.

The win went to Arenson (1-0), loss to Graff (0-4) and save to May (12). The Bullfrogs fall to 5-11 in the second half and 21-30 overall on the season.
