Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release


The Border Cats fell to 0-6 on their current eight-game road trip after a 9-4 loss to the Duluth Huskies Friday night at Wade Stadium. The game was tied 2-2, but the Huskies put the game away with a three-run 4th inning and then tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the 6th.

Clint Knoblauch (Florida Gulf Coast University) started for Thunder Bay and took the loss to slip to 3-5. The righthander pitched four innings and gave up five runs on eight hits. Knoblauch walked two and struck out four.

Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) had a pair of doubles in three at-bats as the Cats second half record dropped to 3-13. Cory Kay (Missouri State University) went 2-4 with a run scored while Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) had a 1-4 night at the plate with a double and scored twice. Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) had one hit and drove in two runs to tie Duplantis for the team lead with 34 runs batted in.

Centre Fielder Ty Stetson (Murray State University) left the game and was taken to hospital after being hit above the right eye with a pitch. Stetson did receive stiches, but had no concussion symptoms. He is listed as day-to-day.

The Cats, who lead the Huskies 3-2 in the 10-game season series for the Superior Cup, play game two of their their three-game weekend series tonight in Duluth at 7:35pm ET.
