Brantford Bulldogs News Release

GUELPH, ONT. - A wild second period that saw the Hamilton Bulldogs (11-16-1-0) score a franchise record six times propelled them to a 7-4 win over the Guelph Storm (2-23-1-0).

The game got off to an auspicious start for the Bulldogs on Teddy Toss night in Guelph when 5:59 into the first, James McEwan beat the Hamilton defender out wide and deked out Bulldogs starting goaltender Charlie Graham. Givani Smith and Tyler Boston would get the assists on McEwan's ninth of the year.

After a brief delay to clean up the teddy bears, Hamilton turned up the intensity and it would pay off as Connor Walters wristed a shot through a crowd that beat Storm goalie Justin Nichols. It was Walters second goal in a Bulldogs uniform, in his seventh game with the team, after going goalless in 92 games over three seasons with the Owen Sound Attack. The power-play goal at 10:04 would see assists from Ben Gleason and Matthew Strome.

The first period would end knotted at 1 but power-play goals would become a theme for the Bulldogs in the second. The goals would come fast and furious beginning with a Matt Luff wrister over Nichol's glove at 3:44. The power-play goal would be assisted by Stephen Harper and Walters.

Just under three minutes later Michael Cramarossa would get a power-play goal of his own on a 5-on-3 advantage for the 'Dogs. Harper and Charlie Graham, with the first point by a Bulldogs goaltender this season, would draw the assists at 6:05.

Another Bulldogs power-play would see Harper hammer home a one-time pass from Cramarossa for his fifteenth of the year. Mason Marchment would also get an assist on the 4-1 goal at 7:20.

The 'Dogs would capitalize for the fourth time in the period when a beautiful saucer pass over the stick of the Storm defender by Harper resulted in a Gleason wrist shot from the slot that beat Nichols. Cramarossa would get his third point of the night with the secondary assist at 10:17.

Guelph would quickly right the ship after the Gleason goal as Smith would get his fifth of the season at 11:43. Noah Carroll and McEwan would get the assists.

The Storm would score again less than two minutes later when Jacob Harris put the puck past Graham for his sixth of the season. C.J. Garcia and Isaac Ratcliffe would register assists at 13:32.

Hamilton would put a stop to the Guelph momentum however as Harper took a nifty drop pass from Cramarossa for his fifth point of the period. Marchment also drew an assist on the goal at 17:36.

The 'Dogs would get one more before the period was out as a smart pinch by Gleason led to an unassisted goal at 18:40. In the end, the second period would see Hamilton register three power play goals, Harper put up five points and the team register six goals in total, all franchise records.

Michael Giugovaz would enter the net for the Storm to start the third. The goaltending change seemed to spark the Storm as Smith would get his second of the night just 31 seconds into the third from Tyler Boston and Austin Hall. That would be all the scoring for the rest of the game as Hamilton would outshoot the Storm 40-29 on the night.

Nichols would make 23 saves on 30 shots for the Storm, while Graham would make 25 saves on 29 shots for the win. The Bulldogs return home to face the Kingston Frontenacs this Sunday, December 6th for a 3:00 p.m. start. The 'Dogs will then host the Peterborough Petes for their annual Toy Toss Game on Friday, December 11th . Fans are asked to bring a new stuffed toy to the game and throw it on the ice after the Bulldogs score their first goal. All fans who bring a plush toy to the game will also receive a complimentary ticket to an upcoming Bulldogs home game. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
