Brown Returns To AHL, Heads To Hartford

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Brad Brown has been called up to the American Hockey League by the Hartford Wolfpack.

Brown, a former 1st round draft pick taken 18th overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, signed with the Blades in January and saw action in 26 games scoring two goals and adding one assist along with 68 penalty minutes in the first ECHL action of his 12-year career.

Brown spent the last two seasons in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies, skating in 36 games with the Marlies last season, registering three assists and 62 penalty minutes. In 2005-06, the native of Baie Verte, Newfoundland tallied four points (2g, 2a) and 93 PIM in 38 games with the Marlies.

Prior to that, 32-year-old spent seven years in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild and Buffalo Sabres. All told in his seven-year NHL career, Brown skated in 330 games, during which he totaled 29 points (2g, 27a) and 797 PIM. Brown also saw action in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games, all coming in 2003 with the Minnesota Wild.
