This Week:
3/15 vs. Elmira, 7:05 p.m. (4-2-1-1) Johnstown and Elmira meet for the final time in the 2007-08 season at the War Memorial on Saturday night. Elmira is the only team in the North Division ahead of the Chiefs in the standings that Johnstown has a winning record against. The Jackals won the last meeting between the teams with a 3-2 overtime victory. The road team has held the advantage in this series all season as the Chiefs won three games at Elmira's First Arena, and the Jackals have picked up three wins at the War Memorial. However, two of Elmira's three wins in Johnstown came in overtime or a shootout. The Chiefs will feature an Easter Ham Shoot at Saturday's game. Each fan in attendance will have a chance to come down to the ice to shoot for a free Easter Ham after the game against Elmira.
3/16 vs. Reading 5:05 p.m. (3-4-1-0) The Chiefs won one of their most dramatic victories of the season with a 5-3 win over Reading on March 1 at the Sovereign Center. The Chiefs also beat Reading for the first time in the 2007-08 season at the War Memorial with a 4-3 overtime win on Feb. 27. Alex Imbeault scored the game winning goal in overtime on the 27th while Jean Desrochers potted his team-leading fourth game winning goal in the victory on March 1. Randy Rowe also has four game winning goals for the Chiefs.
"Pow-Wow" Planner: The brand-new Johnstown Chiefs talk-show, "The Pow-Wow", continues on March 13, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lower Works Restaurant and Pub at the Johnstown Brewing Company. The guests for that show will be forward Kenny Roche and defenseman Greg Gallaghers. Also, be sure to listen to the last episode with Andrew Penner and Justin Coutu by clicking on the audio link under the "Fan Zone" section at the Chiefs' home page.
Streaking Chiefs: Ryan Garlock and Randy Rowe are proving to be forces to be reckoned with in the ECHL when it comes to producing points. Garlock and Rowe have each scored in every game that they have played in since the first day of February. Garlock's team-leading point streak has hit 16 games with a 1 goal, 2 assist performance against Trenton on Sunday. Garlock has 12 goals and 20 assists over his last 16 games. Randy Rowe, meanwhile, is working on a 13-game point streak in which he has amassed 7 goals and 14 assists. Kenny Roche (1g, 4a) and Brian Deeth (5a) are each working on four-game point streaks.

Last Week: (2-0-1)
3/7 vs. Wheeling: W 7-1 The Chiefs controlled the game against Wheeling from the word "go" last Friday. Nathan Saunders scored his first goal as a Chief 1:02 into the first period and the Chiefs wouldn't look back from there. Jean Desrochers (5:04 1st), Justin Coutu (9:59 1st), andn Joey Olson 12:27 1st) would each score in the opening frame to remove any doubt regarding the outcome of the game. Olson, Ryan Garlock, and Mark Tobin would each score in the second period before Kyle Rank finally got the visitors on the board at 17:08 of the second. The win for the Chiefs secured the team a winning record against Wheeling for the 07-08 season.
3/8 vs. Elmira: L 3-2 OT The Chiefs never led in Saturday's match up against Elmira, but they were still able to pick up one point for making it to overtime. Maxime Lincourt scored his first professional goal to give Elmira a 1-0 lead before Andrew Martens tied the game for Johnstown at the 7:22 mark of the second period. Benoit Doucet, a former teammate of Alex Imbeault with Victoria in the QMJHL, gave Elmira a 2-1 lead with 2:01 left in the middle frame. Rob Drummond forced overtime with a power play goal at the 12:15 mark of the third period, but Bobby Robins deflected a Kyle Wharton point shot past Ryan Nie 3:13 into the extra frame for the win.
3/9 at Trenton: W 4-1 After Elmira halted the Chiefs' season-long five game winning streak, the Chiefs came back hungry the next day against the Trenton Devils on the road. The Devils outshot the Chiefs 15-5 in the opening frame, but Andrew Penner turned aside every single shot he faced from the Devils. Trenton was unable to sustain its momentum in the second period, but the Chiefs scored three times to take control of the game. Randy Rowe gave the Chiefs the lead at 13:57 of the second with his 21st goal of the year. Alex Imbeault followed on with his 17th of 07-08, and Vincent Zaore cashed in just 50 seconds later with his fifth goal of the year to make the Johnstown lead 3-0. Garlock potted his 26th goal of the year 3:43 into the third period to provide some insurance before Trenton's Thomas Harrison ended Andrew Penner's shutout bid with a goal with only 5 seconds remaining in regulation.
Rewriting the Record Books:
Ryan Nie set the record for goals against average in a season for the UHL with a 2.02 GAA in Kalamazoo in 2006-07. For an encore, he is trying to chase down Stan Reddick's (1991-92) and Frederic Deschenes' (2000-01) season record of 25 wins for Johnstown. By winning one start last week, Nie's 23 wins trails Reddick and Deschenes by two victories. Jean Desrochers is also on the rise through the Chiefs' all-time record books. The Clarkson University alum only needs one assist to tie Martin Masa with 104 assists for 10th on Johnstown's career assist list. Also, Desrochers needs to play one more game for Johnstown to tie Ian Manzano at 257 for the sixth most games ever played for Johnstown. Also, with Jason Spence taking a fighting major against Thomas Harrison of Trenton on Sunday, he passed Brock Kelly for fourth on Johnstown's all-time penalty minute list with 683 PIMs.
