Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves went 0-2-0 last week, losing to Florida 3-2 on Friday and 5-2 on Saturday.

The Mississippi Sea Wolves jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period behind goals from Zbynek Hrdel and Chase Trull, but Florida roared back with a power-play goal in the first period and a pair of third period goals to win the first game of the three-game set by the score of 3-2 at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida on Friday evening.
Zbynek Hrdel picked up his fourth goal of the season as he broke down the ice as part of a three-on-two rush, took a pass from Torry Gajda and fired the puck over Florida goaltender David Shantz's glove at 11:04. The Sea Wolves took a 2-0 lead when Chase Trull cut in over the Florida blue line, split the defensemen and fired the puck past Shantz's at 14:05 of the first period.
Florida got on the board when Derek Damon's one-timer from the right circle beat Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce at 16:04 of the first.
The Everblades would even the score when Jarret Lukin found a loose puck in a wild goalmouth schmoozzle and poked it past a sprawled Munce at 10:58 of the third period. Florida scored the go-ahead goal when Ernie Hartlieb found a loose puck and fired past Munce's stick with Florida on the power play at 16:47.
Mississippi was 0-for-5 on the power play, including a minute and 41 second two-man advantage late in the third period. Ryan Munce made 29 saves to take the loss.
Saturday, March 8 @ Florida, 2-5 L
The Florida Everblades carried a 4-0 lead into the locker room after two period of play and weathered an early third period storm to defeat the Mississippi Sea Wolves 5-2 at Germain Arena on Saturday night.
Kenndal McArdle staked the Everblades to a 1-0 lead, scoring his first goal since being reassigned from Rochester of the American Hockey League, popping a rebound of Derek Damon's shot past Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce on the power play at 7:09 of the first period. Mathieu Melanson added to the Florida lead when Adam Taylor sprung him on a breakaway and he used a backhand move to tuck the puck behind Munce at 19:21 of the first.
The Everblades continued to roll through the second period, gaining a three-goal lead when David Cornacchia hit Mike McLean with a breakaway pass that McLean cashed in at 9:54 of the second. Brandon Roach's blast from the point gave Florida a 4-0 lead and chased Munce from the Mississippi net at 12:50 of the second.
The Sea Wolves came out roaring for the third period, with Ryan Menei batting home the rebound of Jason Tejchma's shot out of mid-air to get Mississippi on the board just 10 seconds into the third period. One minute and 19 seconds later, Andy Contois converted Travis Lisabeth's centering pass to draw the Sea Wolves within two.
Derek Damon put the win on ice for Florida with an empty-net goal at 19:23 of the third period.
Ryan Munce made 15 saves on 19 shots in 33 minutes of action to take the loss, while Morgan Cey stopped 15 shots to earn a no-decision. Mississippi was 0-for-1 on the power play.

Sea Wolves Notebook
With the pair of losses at Florida last weekend, the Sea Wolves fell to 0-4-0 against the Everblades at Germain Arena... The last time the Sea Wolves beat the Everblades on the road was December 9, 2003...Sean Matile earned the win in goal for Mississippi in that win, while Brent Gauvreau scored the game-winning goal...
Hockey And Sake
The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced that Genie The Florist will present Hockey And Sake, a dinner for fans at the Jia Restaurant at Beau Rivage on March 13 at 5:30 p.m., the proceeds of which will benefit the Sea Wolves Foundation.
"Genie The Florist and the Beau Rivage have come together to help us put on a great event for the Sea Wolves Foundation," said Sea Wolves president Bill Yates. "Not only will fans get a chance to meet the players, but they will get to share a great meal with them in one of the Gulf Coast's finest restaurants."
For $75, fans get dinner at Jia, which artfully combines the best culinary traditions of Japan, Thailand, China, Korea and Vietnam in one modern, sophisticated space, a chance to meet their favorite Sea Wolves players, and a limited edition hockey puck. All attendees will also be eligible to win door prizes and other special gifts.

On the Air
