Broncos Drop a Close One

The Swift Current Broncos had their chances, played a competitve game against the top team in the conference, but dropped a 5-2 decision in Lethbridge Wednesday night.

Lethbridge's Jordy Bellereive scored 1:00 into the game. Kade Jensen got credit for the first Bronco goal 7 minutes later, although it appeared to be tipped by Gustav Olhaver.

The Canes scored the next three before Arthur Miller buried his 2nd of the season at 5:49 of the 3rd to cut the Lethbridge lead to 4-2.

Lethbridge would add an empty netter to score a 5-2 win.

Travis Child made 31 saves in the Bronco net. Stuart Skinner got the win in goal for Lethbridge making highlight reel saves in the final frame to keep Swift from closing the gap.

The Broncos were outshot 17-12 in the first period, but outshot the first place Hurricanes 19-18 over the final two periods.

The Broncos will travel to Brandon Saturday night, before a 2pm home game vs Moose Jaw this Sunday. That game The Broncos will honour Sheldon Kennedy with a WHL 50th Season Acheivement Award in a pre-game on ice cermony hosted by Ron Maclean.
