Royals Take Down Americans

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals exploded for six goals in a 6-2 win vs. the Tri-City Americans on Wednesday night to bounce back from a shootout loss yesterday evening.

The Royals' Alex Forsberg supplied two of his three goals in the second period, and would complete the hat-trick midway through the final frame. Victoria's Jack Walker opened the scoring in the first period, before Logan Fisher extended the Royals' lead 3:08 later. Tyler Soy registered a highlight reel goal in the middle frame when he stripped the puck from a Tri-City defenceman and deked into the offensive zone to beat goaltender Nicholas Sanders five-hole. The Americans' goals were tallied by Nolan Yaremko and Morgan Geekie.

With a three-point game tonight (1g-2a), Tyler Soy has now extended his point streak to seven games. During that span, Soy has collected 11 points (4g-7a).

Royals' netminder Griffen Outhouse started the contest and stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced. Americans' goaltender Evan Sarthou made 5 saves on 7 shots, before being replaced by Sanders who stopped 24 of the 28 shots directed his way.

Victoria went 2/4=50.0% on the powerplay. Tri-City, who entered the match-up with the second ranked powerplay in the WHL, were held to a 0/4=0.0% mark on the man-advantage.

The Royals will now head on the road for a pair of games versus the Prince George Cougars this Friday and Saturday. Puck drop for both contests is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
