Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club would like to congratulate Captain Tyler Benson on being named to Team Cherry for the 2016 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game! The game will be played at the Pacific Coliseum on January 28th at 6:00pm. For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).

"We're very proud of Tyler's achievement," said Giants Majority Owner Ron Toigo. "We're not surprised, but it's always good to have our players recognized at this level. He's had a tough year with injuries, but in spite of that, he's had a great season to date, and we're all looking forward to seeing him play in the game here in Vancouver."

Benson, an Edmonton native, has scored eight goals and 18 assists in 28 games with the G-Men this season. The 17-year-old was listed as an 'A' prospect by NHL Central Scouting in late November, meaning he is a candidate to be a first round pick in this summer's NHL Draft. Benson played in both the Under-18 World Championships and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup last summer, helping Team Canada to bronze and gold medals respectively.

Vancouver's next home game is on Friday, January 15th against the Everett Silvertips at the Pacific Coliseum. Puck drop is at 7:30pm. For tickets, visit TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
