Shoot first. Ask questions later.

Once again the Edmonton Oil Kings drastically outshot their opponent firing 44 shots on net on route to a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Giants Wednesday night at Rexall Place. Brett Pollock led the way with a goal and two assists and former Giant, Payton Lee, stopped 26 of 27 shots for the win.

"That's an emotional win for him (Lee), a lot of friends in the dressing room," said Head Coach Steve Hamilton. "He didn't have a whole lot of work early. I thought Payton was really good. He played the puck well tonight and got us out of a few jams there."

Oil Kings captain Brandon Baddock got things started early when he fired his 16th of the season in past Giants netminder Ryan Kubic. Ben Carroll and Pollock had the helpers.

Vancouver was able to even things up late in the middle frame when Thomas Foster tipped in a Chase Lang point shot. But Edmonton took the lead for good thanks to a beautiful cross-ice pass from Pollock to Lane Bauer, who scored his 20th goal of the season with just three seconds left in the period.

The third period was only 24 seconds old before Pollock took a pass from Brayden Gorda and picked the top corner for his 17th of the year.

Pollock has been red hot as of late gathering 13 points (6G, 7A) in his past seven games as well as registering a point or more in 31 of 41 games this season.

"In practice we look to make those plays," said Pollock. "We emphasize pushing guys through the middle and pulling their D back. Baddock did a great job of getting open for the first one and Bauer did a great job on that second one. They're making it look easy."

Lee picked up his 7th win on the season and 4th as an Oil King and had mixed emotions battling his old team.

"You're excited and you're looking forward to getting out there against the guys that you have been a part of their family for so long. Coming out on top with a win feels really good."

The Oil Kings will look to continue its home winning streak when they host the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night at 7:00 PM at Rexall Place.
