Brockton Rox News Release

The Brockton Fire Department is planning to trade in its boots and fire hoses for an afternoon to take on the US Military All-Stars at Campanelli Stadium in an event to benefit the Strand Memorial Fund. The game will take place on Thursday, June 5th at Campanelli Stadium with a first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM following pre-game ceremonies.

The Strand Theatre Firefighters Memorial stands to honor the 13 Brockton firefighters who lost their lives in one of the most tragic fires in our nation's history. Few fires have taken more firefighters' lives than the blaze which caused the collapse of the balcony of the Strand Theatre in downtown Brockton on March 10th, 1941. The Memorial was officially dedicated and unveiled at a ceremony at Brockton's City Hall on May 10th, 2008.

Tickets for the game are $5 and seating is general admission. Proceeds from the game and some of the activities throughout will go to the Strand Memorial Fund. Tickets are available by phone at (508) 559-7070.

The US Military All-Stars were founded in 1990 and are on a Red, White & Blue Tour of America "To Promote the Awareness of all Americans in Support of the Honorable Sacrifices our Armed Forces Make at the Tip of the Spear." 2008 marks the 19th annual tour by the non-profit organization which consists of off-duty participants who cover their own expenses to ensure all available resources support the brave men and women overseas.
