Ottawa Rapidz lose to Nashua Pride 1-0

(OTTAWA, ON) June 3, 2008 - At their first game since returning from a 6-game road trip, the Ottawa Rapidz lost 1-0 to the Nashua Pride.

Fans at Rapidz Stadium witnessed an exciting pitching duel between Orlando Trias (0-3) who took the loss for the Rapidz and the winning pitcher, Hideki Nagasaka (2-0) for Nashua. Trias worked for 8.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits, no walks and two strike outs. Nagasaka was flawless in 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on five hits, two walks and striking out two. Andrew Weimer picked up his second save of the season, pitching a perfect ninth inning.

Nashua scored the only run of the night in the top of the fourth inning. Argenis Tavarez tripled into deep right-center field, before scoring on a wild pitch by Trias.

In the lost, Jabe Bergeron continued his excellent season, reaching bases twice, on a single and a walk. Ismael Castro led the Pride with two hits, a single in the first and a double in ninth.

The Rapidz and Pride will meet again on Thursday, June 4 starting at 7:05pm. Adam Hawes (1-1) for the Rapidz will face Lance Stevens (1-0) for the Pride.
