Sussex Skyhawks News Release

*AUGUSTA, N.J. - *The Sussex Skyhawks used a well-balanced offensive attack and a five-run fourth inning to cruise to a 10-4 win over the Brockton Rox Tuesday night at Skylands Park.

Every Sussex starter registered at least one base hit, and reliever Matt Salvato pitched the final five innings to pick up his first win of the season as the Skyhawks improved to 5-8. Brockton fell to 7-6.

The Skyhawks broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth with five straight hits, highlighted by a Ron Perodin two-run single to give Sussex a 6-2 advantage. After a long fly out, Walter Young grounded one over a drawn-in infield to plate two more runs.

Brockton responded by loading the bases in the top of the fifth, which chased Sussex starter Mike Rogers (0-1) from the game. But Salvato came in and induced a key double play to limit the damage and keep the Skyhawks ahead 8-4.

Perodin, Young and Jorge Moreno each drove in two runs for the Skyhawks.

Wayne Lundgren (1-2) took the loss for the Rox, giving up eight runs and 11 hits in 3.1 innings.

The teams will play the final game of the three game series Wednesday at 10 a.m.
