Bridgeport earns point, but falls in overtime

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Jason Akeson scored the game-winning goal just 48 seconds into the overtime period, as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms downed the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2-1 on Friday night at PPL Center.

Akeson's goal came on the power play, as the Sound Tigers were penalized with just 26.1 seconds left to go in the game. Akeson's 18 th of the season capped a wild final several minutes.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the first period, as the shots were 8-4 in favor of the Phantoms after the first 20 minutes. Notes: Jeffrey's goal was the first since last Friday for the Sound Tigers and the first goal in 192:39 minutes of play for Bridgeport...The Sound Tigers snapped a nine-game losing streak, but are still on a 10-game winless slide...Both teams had 27 shots in the game.
