Brent Regner Named Wolves Team Captain

The Chicago Wolves announced Wednesday that they have named defenseman BRENT REGNER team captain for the 2014-15 season.
"Brent has a great work ethic and he hates to lose," said head coach JOHN ANDERSON. "He even hates to lose the little games we play during practice. I don't think he has to say a lot to be a great captain. I think his actions speak loudly."
The 25-year-old becomes the 10th captain in Wolves history and the fourth defenseman to receive the honor. He joins Steve Maltais (1994-96 and 1997-2005), Troy Murray (1996-97), Kevin Dahl (2000-01), Derek MacKenzie (2005-06), Darren Haydar (2007-08 and 2012-13), Jamie Rivers (2008-09), Jason Krog (2009-11), Nolan Baumgartner (2011-12), and Taylor Chorney (2013-14) on the list of Chicago captains.
REGNER donned the "ËC' on an interim basis to start the season before being formally selected. He is the second-youngest player in Wolves history to be named captain, trailing only MacKenzie. Forwards COLIN FRASER and PAT CANNONE serve as the team's alternate captains.
In his third season with the Wolves, REGNER paces team rear-guards with five goals and 15 points while tied for the team lead with a +10 plus/minus rating. He has skated in all 35 of the team's games so far this season and, with teammate MATHIEU BRODEUR, is part of the squad's top defensive pairing.
The Westlock, Alberta, native has compiled 40 points (8G, 32A) in 105 games with the Wolves since joining the team via a trade in 2012-13. He has accrued 128 points (23G, 105A) in 352 career AHL games with Syracuse (2009-10), Springfield (2010-12), Peoria (2012-13), and Chicago. In addition he potted one goal in a two-game stint with Evansville (ECHL) in 2012-13.
