Wednesday, Dec. 31: Lehigh Valley 2, Binghamton 6

PP: Lehigh Valley 0 for 4, Binghamton 1 for 5

The Binghamton Senators pushed their win streak to three straight games with an impressive 6-2 win on New Year's Eve over the visiting Lehigh Valley Phantoms. After each squad tallied two goals in the first period, the B-Sens broke the contest open with a four-goal middle frame to claim the divisional win.

David Dziurzynski gave Binghamton the early lead when he relayed a feed from Matt Puempel past Phantoms' net minder Anthony Stolarz at 3:05 of the first. Just over five minutes later, Jason Akeson evened the score with his seventh of the year. Lehigh Valley took its lone lead of the night when Blair Jones took a feed from Akeson and buried it past Binghamton's Scott Greenham to make it 2-1 Phantoms with just over seven minutes to play in the opening frame. Shane Prince notched his 11th of the season at 17:27 of the period to send the teams deadlocked 2-2 into the first intermission.

Less than two minutes into the second period Cole Schneider redirected home a shot on goal from Patrick Mullen to make it 3-2 Binghamton. With the B-Sens on the power play, Carter Camper and Prince worked the puck back and forth behind the Phantom's net. Camper sent a feed to the high right slot that Alex Grant one-timed past Stolarz to make it 4-2 just shy of the midway point of the period. Binghamton made it 5-2 when Derek Grant sent a wrist shot past Stolarz at 12:32, subsequently ending the Phantom's starting goaltender's night as Rob Zepp came on in relief. Binghamton needed less than five minutes to put the puck past Zepp as Puempel tallied his seventh of the season to make it 6-2 with just over 2:40 to play in the period.

The B-Sens managed just three shots on goal in the final 20 minutes, but Greenham corralled all 10 scoring chances for the Phantoms to keep the final at 6-2 Binghamton.

Both Derek Grant (1 goal + 2 assists) and Camper (0+3) finished the night with three point performances while Puempel, Schneider and Alex Grant each added a goal and an assist to lead Binghamton offensively. Greenham earned his third consecutive win, allowing just two goals on 35 shots faced.

Friday, Jan. 2: Binghamton 0, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5

PP: Binghamton 0 for 3, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1 for 3

The Binghamton Senators fell to host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-0 in the first game of 2015. Andrew Hammond played in his first game since December 19 allowing all five goals on 28 shots faced to fall to 6-10-2 for the season.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton notched three goals in the opening 20 minutes despite being outshot 17-7 in the first. Nick Drazenovic notched his first of the night at 4:09 to give the Penguins the 1-0 lead. Just over two minutes later, Conor Sheary made it 2-0 when he knocked home his team-leading 10th goal of the year. Sahir Gill recorded his first American Hockey League goal with just over 12 minutes to play and gave the hosts the 3-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.

Matia Marcantuoni chipped in his first AHL goal to give the Penguins a 4-0 lead 6:17 into the second period. Drazenovic buried his second of the contest with less than seven minutes to play in the middle frame to move the score to 5-0 heading into the final break.

Despite holding Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to nine shots on goal in the third period, the B-Sens managed just five scoring chances themselves as the final score stayed 5-0 Penguins.

Drazenovic finished with two goals and an assist while Sheary ended his night with a goal and an assist to lead the Penguins to their 20th with of the 2014-15 season.

Saturday, Jan. 3: Syracuse 5, Binghamton 4 (OT)

PP: Syracuse 2 for 4, Binghamton 1 for 4

The Binghamton Senators mounted a valiant comeback only to lose 5-4 in overtime to the visiting Syracuse Crunch. The B-Sens rallied for three third period goals to take a 4-3 lead with less than four minutes to play before Mike Blunden completed the hat trick performance to force the overtime period.

Cody Kunyk notched his fifth goal of the season 2:40 into the opening period to give the Crunch the 1-0 lead. Blunden recorded his first of the evening just shy of the 16 minute mark to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission. The B-Sens were outshot 14-6 in the opening 20 minutes of play.

Syracuse needed less than two minutes of play in the second to increase their lead to 3-0 when Blunden converted his second power-play goal of the night off a feed from Jonathan Marchessault. Binghamton's penalty-kill unit got the hosts on the board 5:49 into the second when Max McCormick buried a feed from Brad Mills past Kristers Gudlevskis for the shorthanded tally.

Despite being outshot 13-10 over the final 20 minutes of play, the B-Sens managed to add three unanswered goals. First it was Schneider at 4:14 to cut the Crunch lead to 3-2 before Puempel converted a power-play chance for Binghamton to even the score 3-3 at 9:25 of the final period. The B-Sens took their lone lead of the night with less than four minutes to play when Camper notched an unassisted goal to make it 4-3. However, with Gudlevskis on the bench in favor of an extra attacker, the Crunch's Blunden finished the hat-trick bid to even the score 4-4 with 1:10 remaining to force overtime.

The teams traded few scoring chances during the sudden-death frame until Marchessault beat B-Sens Peter Mannino with just under 12 seconds remaining to give the visitors the victory.

Puempel finished with a goal and an assist for Binghamton while Mills ended the night with two helpers. Mannino, who appeared in his first game in a B-Sens uniform, stopped 41 of 46 shots faced in the losing effort.

Defenseman Chris Wideman, who is tied for the league-lead among defensemen with 29 points (12+17) in 32 games played, was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team on Monday, January 6. This will be the first All-Star Game appearance for the third year pro.

Goaltender Peter Mannino made his B-Sens debut on Saturday, January 3, stopping 41 of 46 shots faced in the 5-4 overtime loss to the Syracuse Crunch.
