Penguins Return Three to Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today announced that defenseman Clark Seymour has been returned on loan to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). In separate transactions, forwards Patrick McGrath and Zack Torquato have been released from their professional tryout agreements (PTO) and will return to Wheeling.

Currently in his first season of professional hockey, Seymour has recorded one goal, five assists and 15 penalty minutes over 18 games with Wheeling. Seymour has played in five games for the Penguins, posting one assist.

A 21-year old native of Brockville, Ontario, Seymour was originally a fifth-round pick (143rd overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2012. Seymour skated for five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (2009-14) between Peterborough and Kingston, collecting 57 points (14G-43A) and 272 PIM over 288 contests.

McGrath, 21, made his AHL debut with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Dec. 27, 2014 versus Bridgeport and appeared in two total games for the Penguins. The Shavertown, Pennsylvanianative is in his second season with the Nailers, having collected two goals, one assist and 69 penalty minutes in 20 games. During the 2013-14 season, he registered one assist and 176 penalty minutes over 45 appearances for Wheeling.

Torquato has compiled one goal, one assist and 13 penalty minutes in 12 contests for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and amassed 17 points (7G-10A) in 17 games this season with the Nailers.

A former sixth-round selection (178th overall) of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2007 NHL Draft, Torquato has skated in 56 American Hockey League games, posting 10 points (4G-6A) and 49 penalty minutes with Grand Rapids, Rockford and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The fifth-year pro has totaled 53 goals, 127 assists and 242 penalty minutes in 222 ECHL contests with Idaho, Toledo and Wheeling.

The second Eyewitness News Fan Friday will take place on Friday, Jan. 9 as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton once again battles the Norfolk Admirals. Following the Penguins game, the Pittston Area Patriots will take on the Wyoming Area Warriors in the second match this season of the 2015 NEPA Toyota Dealers High School Hockey Showcase.
