Asheville Tourists News Release
Charleston, SC-- For the first time this season, the Asheville Tourists won four consecutive road games and all four came against the Charleston RiverDogs. In Sunday evening's series finale the Tourists once again came out on top, this time 7-5 on the back of a big fifth inning rally.
Antonio Senzatela became the fourth straight Tourists starting pitcher to earn a victory against the RiverDogs as he outdueled Caleb Smith. With a 1-0 lead, Senzatela found himself in some trouble in the bottom of the fourth. Charleston tied the game on Miguel Andujar's RBI single then took a 2-1 lead when Brandon Thomas drove in a run with an infield single.
The Tourists countered in the top of the fifth. With runners at second and third, Wilfredo Rodriguez singled into left to tie the game. After Raimel Tapia walked and Ryan McMahon popped out, Correlle Prime stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. The first baseman drove a double down the line in left to plate two. The next batter, Jose Briceno, followed suit with a tworun double down the third base line. Asheville capped the rally when Briceno stole third and scored on an errant through by Charleston's catcher Jackson Valera.
The RiverDogs attempted to swing their way back into the game. Aaron Judge hit a solo Home Run in the bottom of the fifth and Charleston plated two in the bottom of the ninth, but Troy Neiman recorded the final out to notch his third save of the season.
Now the Tourists set their sights on the Savannah Sand Gnats for a huge three-game showdown at Historic Grayson Stadium. The two teams will square off for the first time this season on Monday night beginning at 7:05pm.
